Because the government intends to replace all existing painted number plates with embossed number plates, you may be interested in the registration procedures. We will walk you through the process of applying for an embossed registration spot in this section.
Why?
But first, let us define this new technology and its potential applications.
The embossed number plate is a camera-readable plate with a microchip that is linked to the GPS system of the vehicle. This improves efficiency in terms of maintaining digital vehicle records, collecting revenue on time, monitoring vehicles, and controlling vehicle thefts.
How?
On the official website of the Department of Transport Management, there is an online application form that users can fill out.
Step 1: Begin now
Navigate to the Department of Transportation Management's official website (DoTM). Then you must click the "Get Started" button.
Step 2 : Enter your basic information
Proceed to the next page, where you will be required to enter vehicle information. You must enter the vehicle registration number and date of registration. Fill out the captcha and click 'continue' to proceed to the next page.
Step 3 : Verify
Enter your current mobile phone number, which the DoTM will use to send you a six-digit number along with your vehicle number for verification. After receiving the verification code, you must enter it to proceed to the next page.
Step 4 : Email confirmation is required
Please enter your email address. You must provide a verified and active mailing address where the DoTM will provide another verification number, just as you did with your active mobile number.
This is optional, so if you do not want to enter your mailing address, simply click the skip button.
Step 5 : Give the necessary information
Fill in the vehicle information. This is the first of three tabs on this page. You must enter the vehicle information from your registration booklet here (bill book or blue book). Among other things, you must provide the registration number, vehicle type, chassis number, and engine number.
After you have entered all of the required information, you will be able to proceed to the next tab, where you must provide information about the vehicle's owner. There are two types of ownership available in this case: individual and organizational. You must fill out the form correctly. If you financed the purchase of your vehicle, you must also include the name of the bank that financed the purchase.
Following the completion of the owner information, you will be required to attach several lists of documents that are mentioned on the page itself. After that, you can proceed to the'submit' screen by pressing the 'Next' button. You can double-check all of the information you've entered here before clicking the 'Submit' button.
Step 6 : Get the application form here
After you have submitted all of the required documents, you can download the application form, which you must print and submit to the Transport Management Office along with the required documents.
Even after going through all of this, if you believe the information you provided is incorrect and needs to be corrected, click the 'apply again' button. The current application will be closed, and the form will be opened in editable mode. You can now correct the information you wanted to change, submit it, and re-download the application.
Step 7 : Submit
When you have finished filling out the registration form, you must submit it to the Transport Management Office along with other documents and two photos.
Two-wheeler owners can submit their applications at the TMO in Gurjudhara, Kathmandu, for Rs 2,500, while four-wheeler owners can submit their applications at the TMO in Ekantakuna, Lalitpur, for Rs 3,200.
