The Suzuki Alto 2022 has been officially revealed; a Nepal launch is expected.
Maruti Suzuki has officially revealed the Alto 2022 model. The Alto made its debut in Japan in 1979, and the new ninth-generation iteration is expected to hit the Nepalese market in the coming months. Apart from the name, the new Suzuki Alto differs from the Nepalese model. The new Alto has the same name but a different design, interior, and powertrain, but the overall boxy shape remains. In addition, the new model has a softer and rounder shape than the previous model.
The new Alto 2022 is powered by a 660cc three-cylinder petrol engine, but a new mild-hybrid technology will be available. The new model will be available with a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. The brand, however, has not yet revealed the power figures. The vehicle will also feature mild-hybrid technology, including an integrated starter generator and a small lithium-ion battery pack for energy storage. This mild-hybrid system will improve Alto's fuel efficiency, making it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in Nepal.
The new Alto will also have a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-mounted audio controls, climate control, analog dials with a multi-information display, and alloy wheels. The vehicles also include major Suzuki safety features such as lane departure warning, forward collision prevention, high-beam assist, and AEB with pedestrian detection. The new Alto is outfitted with quadrilateral headlights, new bumpers, a new tailgate, and an upstanding taillight. Suzuki has also given it a slightly upright stance in order to provide comfortable seating.
The new-generation Suzuki Alto also has all-new color options as well as bright paint options. The new Alto is expected to be launched in the Nepalese market by 2022, but Suzuki will announce the exact date in the coming days. The Alto 800 will compete against the Renault Kwid, Datsun Redi-GO, and Maruti S-Presso. By 2022, the company plans to launch updated versions of the Baleno and XL6, as well as a new generation of the Brezza.

The official distributor of Suzuki cars in Nepal, CG Motocorp, is currently selling four variants of the Suzuki Alto through its showroom or dealer network. In Nepal, the Suzuki Alto is a hatchback car with the reputation of being a taxi. This was especially true when the model was known as the Maruti 800. However, the introduction of the Alto 800 has given this model a new twist. It looks very different from its previous incarnation and no longer reflects the stereotype image it had. However, the Suzuki Alto is still available at a budget price of around 20 lakhs, making it one of the most affordable cars in Nepal.
With a 796cc engine, this city car can achieve a fuel efficiency of around 16km per liter. The fuel tank capacity of the Maruti Suzuki Alto is 35 liters. Given its mileage, it should be enough to last the fuel for a week, even if you are a frequent driver. Unlike its predecessor, which was smaller in size, this Alto can comfortably seat 5 people. The Alto's ground clearance of 170mm is not ideal for off-road driving, but it should be adequate for city driving. When it comes to some of the most important features of the Alto, it has a single airbag for the driver's safety. For added security, it has ABS and reverse parking sensors.
